Manchester Camerata, one of the UK’s most distinguished chamber orchestras, delivers its third disc for Avie, a live recording of Mozart’s ever-popular final two symphonies that is as fresh and immediate as its predecessors: the critically acclaimed Beethoven’s Symphonies Nos. 2 and 5 (AV 0040), and the chamber version of Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 (AV 2069), for which soprano Kate Royal was nominated for a Classical BRIT. Conductor Douglas Boyd’s technique, musicality and charm have made him a favourite of audiences in Manchester and further afield. The super-budget price point is a further enhancement.
