Biography:

The Northwest Sinfonia has established itself as one of the recording industry’s pre-eminent ensembles, with well over 200 recordings completed since 1995, and both Grammy and Academy Award-winning projects to its credit. Members of the Northwest Sinfonia, an all-star orchestra, have been drawn historically from the Seattle Symphony, Vancouver Symphony, Oregon Symphony, San Francisco Symphony, Minnesota Orchestra, Atlanta Symphony, St. Louis Symphony, Cleveland Orchestra, Pittsburgh Symphony, New York Philharmonic, and Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. The versatility of this orchestra, with its long and rich relationships with iconic film composers Leonard Rosenman, Elmer Bernstein, Michael Kamen, Ryuichi Sakamoto and Bruce Broughton and an ever-increasing list of concert composers, including Alexander Raskatov, Chen Yi, Christopher Tyler Nickel and Louis Andriessen, is unmatched. To complete this unique scenario, the Northwest Sinfonia records in the peerless St. Thomas Chapel at Bastyr University, a treasure of acoustic clarity and warmth set in an idyllic forest.
