Biography:

Founded in 1959, the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra (MSO) provides enrichment and educational activities for audiences of every age, economic status, and background. Under Music Director Andreas Delfs, the MSO has become ranked among America\’s major orchestras.

At home and on tour, the MSO plays over 150 Classics, Pops, Family, and School concerts each year. Its Arts in Community Education (ACE) program is nationally acclaimed. The MSO has toured Japan and Cuba and is regularly heard on nationally syndicated radio broadcasts and on National Public Radio.

Under Music Directors Lukas Foss and Zdenek Macal, the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra has recorded extensively for Koss Classics, including the complete symphonies of Dvořák. A live recording of Hansel and Gretel marked Andreas Delfs’ and the orchestra’s first collaboration with AVIE.

“One of Milwaukee’s cultural treasures” the 150 member Milwaukee Symphony Chorus was founded in 1976 by Margaret Hawkins. Currently conducted by Lee Erikson, its singers combine enthusiasm for choral singing and a commitment to artistic excellence. The chorus has a wide-ranging repertoire including a capella, music for chorus and organ, and has made many appearances with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, the Milwaukee Chamber Orchestra and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

Since its foundation in 1994 by Emily Crocker, the Milwaukee Children’s Choir has grown from a single choir to an organization with 5 distinct levels encompassing 360 members. The choir encourages children from all backgrounds, races, and religions, while providing exceptional choral instruction and performance opportunities, fostering creativity, personal expression and social cohesion. The MCC has received acclaim for its own concerts as well as performances with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and the Milwaukee Chamber Orchestra.
