Biography:

Manchester Camerata has established an enviable reputation as one of the UK’s most distinguished orchestras. It has been bringing live music to a wide audience for more than thirty years through its high quality concerts and education programme.

Douglas Boyd, Artistic Director and Principal Conductor, has attracted glowing reviews for his performances with the Orchestra. Nicholas Kraemer, the highly respected Baroque specialist, is Principal Guest Conductor and has been associated with the Orchestra for more than 20 years.

Based in England’s North West, Manchester Camerata is chamber orchestra in residence at Manchester’s prestigious Bridgewater Hall and also presents an annual series at the Royal Northern College of Music. It gives concerts throughout the region and beyond. Bradford, Dewsbury, Hanley, Huddersfield, Leeds, Shrewsbury and Ulverston are some of the towns in which the Orchestra is performing this season and it also enjoys regular residencies in Cheshire, Lancashire and Staffordshire.

The Orchestra’s versatility enables it to play music spanning five centuries, including Baroque classics, the great Classic symphonies and concertos and music from the 20th and 21st century chamber orchestra repertoire. It works with some of today’s outstanding artists.

Off-stage, the Orchestra’s education programme goes from strength to strength. A wide range of projects includes residencies in Manchester schools, masterclasses and composition workshops for schools, INSET training days for teachers and coaching for young musicians.
